செப்டம்பர் 28 முதல் தொடங்கும் மூன்று நாள் வங்கி ஊழியர்கள் வேலைநிறுத்தத்திற்கு முன், அத்தியாவசிய வங்கிப் பணிகளை முடிக்க வாடிக்கையாளர்களுக்கு வாய்ப்பளிக்கும் வகையில், நாடு முழுவதும் உள்ள பொதுத்துறை வங்கிகள் மற்றும் பிராந்திய கிராமீண வங்கிகள் செப்டம்பர் 27, ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை திறந்திருக்கும்.
வேலைநிறுத்தம் ஏன் நடைபெறுகிறது?
செப்டம்பர் 28 முதல் 30 வரை நாடு தழுவிய வேலைநிறுத்தத்திற்கு அகில இந்திய வங்கி ஊழியர் சங்கங்களின் கூட்டமைப்பு (UFBU) அழைப்பு விடுத்ததைத் தொடர்ந்து இந்த முடிவு எடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. வங்கிகளுக்கு ஐந்து நாள் பணி வார அமலாக்கம் உட்பட பல கோரிக்கைகளை சங்கங்கள் முன்வைத்துள்ளன.
இல்லையெனில், ஐந்து நாட்கள் வங்கிச் சேவை இல்லை
செப்டம்பர் 26 நான்காவது சனிக்கிழமையாகவும், செப்டம்பர் 27 ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமையாகவும் உள்ளதால், இவை ஏற்கெனவே வங்கிகளுக்கு வழக்கமான விடுமுறை நாட்களே. இதைத் தொடர்ந்து செப்டம்பர் 28 அன்று வேலைநிறுத்தம் தொடங்குவதால், ஞாயிறு அன்று வேலை நாளாக அறிவிக்கப்படாவிட்டால், தொடர்ச்சியாக ஐந்து நாட்களுக்கு வழக்கமான கிளைச் சேவைகள் பாதிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
பேச்சுவார்த்தை பலனளிக்கவில்லை
வேலைநிறுத்தத்தைத் தடுக்கும் முயற்சியில் தொழிலாளர் துறையின் கீழ் சமீபத்தில் சமரச பேச்சுவார்த்தைகள் நடைபெற்றன, ஆனால் உடன்பாடு எட்டப்படவில்லை. ஐந்து நாள் வங்கி பணி வாரம் அமலாக்கத்தில் திடமான, சாதகமான முன்னேற்றம் ஏற்பட்டால் வேலைநிறுத்தத்தை மறுபரிசீலனை செய்யலாம் என UFBU தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

வங்கிக் கிளைகள், அலுவலகங்கள், ஏடிஎம் தொடர்பான கிளைகள் மற்றும் நாணயக் காப்பகங்கள் செப்டம்பர் 27, ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை செயல்பட ரிசர்வ் வங்கி அனுமதி அளித்துள்ளது. வேலைநிறுத்தம் தொடங்குவதற்கு முன் அவசர வங்கிப் பரிவர்த்தனைகளை முடிக்க இந்த கூடுதல் வேலை நாளைப் பயன்படுத்துமாறு மத்திய நிதி அமைச்சகம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
Public sector banks and regional rural banks across the country will remain open on Sunday, September 27, to give customers a chance to complete essential banking work ahead of a three-day bank employees' strike scheduled from September 28.
Why the Strike Is Happening
The decision follows a call for a nationwide strike from September 28 to 30 by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). The unions have raised several demands, chief among them the implementation of a five-day working week for banks.
Five Days Without Regular Banking, Otherwise
September 26 falls on a fourth Saturday and September 27 on a Sunday — both are already standard holidays for banks. With the strike beginning right after, on September 28, regular branch services could have been disrupted for five consecutive days had Sunday not been opened up as a working day.
Talks Failed to Avert the Strike
Conciliation talks were held recently under the Labour Department in an effort to prevent the strike, but no agreement was reached. The UFBU has indicated it may reconsider the strike if there is concrete, favourable progress on implementing the five-day banking week.

It's a stop-gap, not a solution — for residents here in Madurai, it means clearing urgent transactions well before September 28 rather than assuming branches will simply reopen after a five-day delay.
What's Allowed to Operate
The Reserve Bank of India has permitted bank branches, offices, ATM-related branches and currency chests to function on Sunday, September 27. The Union Finance Ministry has said customers should use this additional working day to complete urgent banking transactions before the strike begins.
