இந்தக் கடைசி நாள் யாருக்கு
இந்தச் சிறப்பு வாய்ப்பு இரண்டு பிரிவினருக்குப் பொருந்தும்:
- 2010-க்கு முன் பெயர் இல்லாமல் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பிறப்புகள்.
- பெயர் சேர்ப்பதற்கான வழக்கமான 15 ஆண்டு காலக்கெடு ஏற்கனவே முடிந்துவிட்ட பிறப்புப் பதிவுகள்.

பெயருடன் கூடிய பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ் ஏன் முக்கியம்

- குழந்தையின் தற்போதைய பிறப்புச் சான்றிதழ் அல்லது பதிவு விவரங்களை (பதிவு எண், பதிவு செய்த தேதி, இடம்) எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.
- பிறப்பு முதலில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பதிவாளர் அலுவலகத்திற்குச் செல்லுங்கள். மதுரை நகரில் பிறந்திருந்தால் மதுரை மாநகராட்சியின் பிறப்பு, இறப்புப் பதிவுப் பிரிவு; பிற இடங்களில் பிறந்திருந்தால், பிறப்பு பதிவான உள்ளாட்சி அமைப்பு அல்லது பதிவாளர் அலுவலகம்.

Why a birth certificate with the name matters
A birth certificate is the primary proof of a child's date of birth and age. Without the name on it, you may run into trouble with:
- Adding the child to the family (ration) card
- Aadhaar enrolment or updates
- School and college admissions
- Passport and visa applications
- Other identity documents and government schemes that ask for proof of age
How to add the name: step by step
- Find your child's existing birth certificate or registration details (registration number, date and place of registration).
- Go to the registrar's office where the birth was originally registered. For births in Madurai city this is the Madurai Corporation's birth and death registration section; for births elsewhere, it is the local body or registrar's office where the birth was recorded.
- Submit a written declaration with the child's name, signed by a parent or guardian.
- Carry the existing certificate or registration details and identity proof of the parents, such as Aadhaar. The office may ask for additional documents, so it is worth calling ahead.
- Pay any applicable fee and collect the updated certificate, or the acknowledgement telling you when it will be ready.
Check the spelling before you sign. Once the name is entered in the birth register it generally cannot be changed later, so make sure it exactly matches how you want it to appear on school records, Aadhaar and the passport — including initials and the order of names.
If you miss the deadline
The government has said it will not offer a similar extension again. If your child's record falls under the special provision and the name is not added by September 26, 2026, getting a complete certificate is likely to become much harder. If you are unsure whether your child's record qualifies, contact the registrar's office before the deadline rather than after.
